Thanks to Head Coach Julie Wright and all of the Maryland Softball Team, I got to experience something I will never forget. I got to be the batgirl for a Terps game a few weeks ago!

It all started on February 16th, I was at the airport going to Orioles Spring Training. My dad and I went to eat at Einstein Bagels, which was in a whole different part of the airport I had never even seen. When we got to the bagel shop, I saw some people wearing Maryland gear and holding softball gloves. I whispered to my dad that they played softball for Maryland! I have always dreamed of playing softball for Maryland! My dad and I then started talking to the team and the coaches. They were so nice! We took some pictures and then the head coach, Julie Wright told me I could be the batgirl sometime for the team. I was super excited! Our trip to Florida was already great and I didn’t even board the plane yet.

Finally, the day came, when I got to be the batgirl. It was March 31st, and the weather was sunny and perfect for a ballgame. Maryland was playing Iowa, who is also in the Big 10. When I got there, one of my best friends, Jules, was there to watch the game too. She played on my softball team and is a huge Maryland Terps fan like me. One of the workers for the Terps Softball team gave me a shirt to wear. It is white with the seams of a softball on it, and has "Terrapin" on it.

Coach Wright introduced me to the team, and after that, I put some of the bats away in the bat holder. Before the game, the Terps were introduced and everyone gave high-fives to each other, I got to go out on the field and be a part of it. After that, everyone went to their dugouts to begin the game.

The game was so much fun! I got to cheer on the players, retrieve the bats, and talk to the players. I learned a lot about the players. I talked to junior infielder Bailey Boyd a lot during the game. She has two sisters and one one of them plays softball. It was super kind of her to talk to me during the game. All of the players and coaches are really nice.

Thanks again Maryland for having me! I had a blast at the game! Have a super Saturday!! :)
