Monday, the Orioles played their first game of the 2017 season. My dad and I went to the game. It was very exciting! The whole Opening Day was very fun. I got to watch the Orioles and the Blue Jays batting practice from the stands and I got to see Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com and Kristen Hudak, the Orioles public relations director, while watching batting practice. I want to thank them again for all they did in spring training! The Orioles won so that was the best part! They're undefeated! When Jose Bautista was up to bat everyone in the stadium was hollering "BOO". An Orioles fan sitting near me was yelling some rude comments. But when the Orioles coaches, players, staff, and the manger were announced the stadium was so loud from all of the cheers. All you saw in the stadium was orange and black. I only saw one Blue Jays fan.

While we were down near the field, I yelled "Manny Machado" but he did not hear me. After the Orioles were finished taking BP, Tyler Wilson came over and asked "how are the interviews going?" It was so cool that he remembered the interviews I did during spring training. My dad and I then went to Boog's BBQ - my dad loves Boog's. The food is so good at Boog's. I was eating when the channel 2 reporter named Jamie Costello came over and interviewed me and asked about spring training. I was on the 5:00 news!

A couple hours later the opening day ceremonies began. The players ran down the orange carpet. Camden Yards was so loud. Mark Trumbo got the Louisville Slugger Award - the bat was gold! He got the award because he had the most home runs in the whole MLB. The ceremonial first pitches were thrown by Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh, retiring Orioles radio broadcaster Fred Manfra, and Maryland State Senator Bobby Zirkin. Then it was National Anthem time - Oh Canada and The Star Spangled Banner.
It was finally game time! Kevin Gausman took the mound for the O's. The Blue Jays did not score in the 1st inning but the Orioles did. They scored two runs! Then the Blue Jays scored in the fifth and sixth innings. The game was tied. No one scored for the rest of the game. The game then went into extra innings. No one scored in the tenth. Then the Blue Jays didn't score in the top of the 11th. Mark Trumbo came up to bat, the player with the most home runs in all of the MLB last season! He hit a home run. All of the Orioles players ran out of the dugout with Gatorade coolers and poured the Gatorade on Mark! The Orioles had won Opening Day!
Thanks so much for checking out this post! Make sure to check back for more posts! By the way, may dad and I went to the second game too! The Orioles won that one too - they're undefeated so far!
