Hi! I am at Sarasota, Florida and so excited to be here! What a day so far. I woke up very early to come to the park. When I got to the park, my dad and I went in to the media room and saw ESPN do a sit-down interview with Adam Jones - and they where eating some breakfast during the interview! The ESPN anchor was Randy Scott. He was very nice to me and I it to take a picture with him.
I also got to interview pitchers Tyler Wilson and Oliver Drake! They were reallly nice and I enjoyed talking with them.
Also I did an interview with Brittany Ghiroli, who covers the team for MLB.com. I asked her about her job and she had great advice for me - as I'd love to have a job as a baseball writer.
Then I went to watch the Orioles practice. I got to talk with Kristen Hudak, the Orioles Director of Media Relations. I asked her about her job, which is really cool too.
Then the Orioles took batting practice. Mark Trumbo was up and he broke his bat in 2 pieces. Adam Jones picked it up and then sure enough, Trumbo started to walk toward me. Then he gave me the bat and said, "don't hurt yourself". I was so excited to have the bat. The only thing is - is the plane going to let the bat on the plane? After the Orioles were finished warm ups and practice they had lunch. So did I.
Then after lunch the Orioles had a scrimmage in the stadium. It is black jerseys vs orange jerseys. I am sitting in the press box. There are no fans allowed in so it's really quiet. During the game, Buck Showalter stops the game and gives lessons to the players. Buck goes up to the plate and is in a batting stance. There is a different pitcher every inning. So that is where I am in the day.
Please check out my photog gallery from the trip so far and I'll have more O's news and fun soon. Thanks!
